Always Time

My first memory of Cathy is sitting in a living room with people who were using it as a safe place to practice their prophetic gifts. Cathy told me, “I see you as heaven’s butterfly.” If you had a look at my lower back you would understand that she had just blessed me, recounting the symbol God gave me as a child that reflects His path for my life. I remember sitting in Anita McCann’s living room several times as Cathy again used her amazing gift to speak into God’s plans for my life. We also spent time wondering where our future husbands were. The first thing Cathy said to me when I got back from living in South Korea was, “Are you married yet??” Then she told me her beautiful love story that had begun with Mike. I won the “bridal fashion show” at Cathy’s bridal shower (can you see why? – haha – I only posted this photo because Cathy preferred me as a blond, so this is for her) and I remember talking with Mike and Cathy on their wedding day about their butterfly chopstick favours and how much they loved Korean food (I still use my chopsticks.)
Cathy used to help with Women’s Ministry at Lakemount. I told her she was not “WM” for “Women’s Ministry”, but because she was a “Walking Miracle”. For years she defied the odds, walking around with a cancer diagnosis that few people knew about. I changed the way I prayed after hearing Cathy speak at the Women’s Ministry event. She shared about how she would drive her son Carsen to school making scripture declarations over his day as they drove, and now I do the same thing on my way to work every day.
Back to that powerful anointing she had. I remember taking Cathy and Anita to dinner at Wildfire as a way to bless them for pouring into my life, and still talking in the parking lot after about what I knew God had told me about something, and the opposite that I was seeing at that time. She said, “Lori do you want to be right, or do you want God?” You never forget when the Spirit of God is speaking to you, and that’s what happened in my conversations with Cathy. One time I called the church for something when Cathy was on staff there, and I was walking through “laying down my Isaac” at the time. She stopped everything to pray and minister to me right there on the phone. Another time this occurred when I stopped into an evening service on my way up north to drop off my tithe and Cathy spotted me, asked about how things were going, and again prayed with and blessed me.
Cathy always took time to follow my journey with God and speak words of life and wisdom at every signpost. Even from Turkey she still wanted to know latest developments and always took time to say what she appreciated about me and let me know I was loved. And this life story of mine is the same for hundreds, I’m sure. How did she have time for us all? But she did. At that same Wildfire dinner Cathy talked about the lost going to hell and why weren’t believers doing more to save the lost. Cathy had a passion for everyone to have a relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Saviour as she did. I am sure that even more will come to know Him through her life story, and that those she loved and ministered to will be inspired to carry on her passion, and then what a glorious reunion we will all have in heaven. Just over a week ago I listened to a testimony about heaven that someone sent me months ago, and as a result, I am convinced that Jesus has personally installed a Starbucks right in Cathy’s mansion! Along with many other absolutely lovely things that will bless her heart off. I remember being at a spa in Turkey with Cathy, and her talking me into trying a Turkish bath with her. That’s a cultural experience we will always have! As I started to read tributes to Cathy I was reminded of a night sitting around their dinner table in Turkey, when Cathy had misheard something that got her laughing, and her laugh was what got us laughing, which got her laughing more, and I remember laughing so hard we were crying. Laughter is God’s sign of victory. He laughs at His enemies in triumph. Cathy was given an infectious laugh and laughed easily, and her life is absolutely a victorious one.
